Descriptions of Responsibilities for Volunteers
Please arrive at the Chambers Properties Central Meadow by 8:15 am (unless listed below as earlier) to receive instructions and enjoy some complimentary bagels, juice, etc.

Meet Director (Ben Mangrum) –arrive at 5:30 am (when the gates open), oversee everything and make sure everything is happening
Starter (Mike Jorgensen-1)—give athletes 10 minute warning before each race, call athletes to starting line 4 minutes before each race, arrange athletes to have two people at front, give race instructions using megaphone, answer questions about course, start race with starting gun/starting sensors for FinishLynx system, communicate via walkie-talkie about progress of previous race to estimate start time of next race
Clerk of the Course (Elena Howard-1)--Help organize teams at the start line, assist starter will all of the responsibilities listed above.
Results Camera Operator (Rob Whitacre--1)—operate finish line clock, process results, communicate with computer attendants about results and updated athlete numbers.
Computer Attendant/Scoring Table (Lessley Shirley-1, Bill Nelson-1)—Assist Rob Whitacre with his timing system. One person will update new athlete numbers (mostly for community race) and the other person to assist Rob with identifying runners on camera/computer system and processing race results.
Announcer/DJ (Steve Pielak-1)—announce important information to crowd/athletes, comment about teams and individuals before/during/after race, announce race results during awards ceremony, communicate with Mile Mark Clock Operator and Starter via walkie-talkie about race progress at mile mark, play music during races, but not at start of races (to announce leaders, etc).
Mile Mark Clock Operator (Teresa Sodon--1)—start clock at beginning of each race via walkie talkie communication with Golf Cart Driver, communicate with Starter via walkie-talkie about progress of final runner in each race
Head Logistics Official (Michelle Jacobsen-1): arrive at 6:30 am, oversee meet logistics, including registration table, volunteer/coach food area, course setup and supervision during races, awards ceremony
Registration Table (Anne Jacot-2, Karen Mangrum-2)—arrive at 7:00 am, greet coaches as they arrive and give them team packets, extra pins or course maps (if necessary), information about course, check with them about payment of registration fees and write down their status on the paid teams list, oversee signup of open race entrants (use sign-up sheets, write down bib number, periodically bring to computer attendants for entry into computer), collect payments from coaches or donations from open athletes in a cash box, check in on food table to arrange things after 9:30.
Food Table Attendant (Anne Bauer--2)--arrive at 7:45 am, organize and staff the food table for volunteers and coaches
Food Truck Coordinator (Gerry Mangrum--1)--arrive at 7:00, direct food trucks and apparrel truck as they arrive through the south gate to their designated set-up locations, assist with their needs and setup.
Bus Parking Attendant (Bruce Jacot--1, Tami Engle--4 , Paul Engle-4, Rob Nunes--4, Jamie Dobosz-4, Brad Franklin-4, Ella Franklin-4, Robert Franklin-4, Debbie Mellott-4, Rick Watamura--4, Elijah Gehring--4, Aaron Cady?--4)—arrive at 6:45 am, wear orange vest (we have some for you). Two will be stationed at the entrance to Chambers Creek Wastewater Treatment Center to greet team buses, vans, and spectators as they arrive, instruct them to continue driving on the access road until they arrive at the parking area near the Central Meadow. One will be stationed at the entrance to the Wastewater Treatment Plant parking area to restrict any vehicle traffic from entering the lot and directing traffic forward on the access road, and another will do the same at a second entrance to the parking area. Four to eight more will be stationed at the entrance to the parking area to direct cars to the car parking area and buses to the bus parking area, and assist in directing cars to their parking locations.
Course Marshals (Merlene Betteridge--2, Monica Anderson--2--at major turn after runners re-enter central meadow; Derek Keith--2, Debbie Keith--2--near bathrooms where course crosses paved trail; Mike Sodon--2, Steve Bitner--2--just inside driving range where runners enter/exit; Tod Treat--2, Linda Johnson--2--near start line and as race passes behind start line area)—monitor course at strategic locations, direct athletes towards correct pathways during race, prevent spectator traffic from blocking runners during the race.
Head Finish Line Official (Terry Rice-1): arrive at 6:45 am, oversee and instruct all finish line volunteers, coordinate results with scoring table attendants, man the front of the chute to switch from first to second chute when first chute gets backed up (or delegate to another available person).
Chute Escorts (Kurt Shevalier--3, Jenn Barrett--3, Dan Kaiser--3, Jayce Kaiser--3, Jenn Johnson--3, Tiva Franklin--3, Kate Landau--3, Charlie Bauer--3, Nicolas Basil--3, Angela Janicki--3, Kandy Pham--3, David Smith--3, Peter Helmberger--3, Natalie Nunes--3)—physically move athletes through finish chute if they slow down, make sure they stay in finishing order, stand in for athletes and hold tag to give tag tearer if athlete cannot walk through chute on own.
Water Attendant (Marne Horstman-3, Cindy Cady?--3)—hand out water to athletes as they leave the finish line area, refill cups with water as needed, refill water jugs when empty using a spigot from the restrooms and hose (see Terry Rice for a key)
Tag Tearer/Collector (Paul Sioda--3, Sylvia Sioda--3, Kaity Adams--3, Madison Adams--3)—tear tags from athlete numbers as they come to the end of the finish chute, put tags on tag holders to keep correct order of finishers. Secure tags with a zip-tie and bring to scoring/results table, hand out top finisher's ribbons for open race (top 5 males, top 5 females).
Golf Cart Driver (Seth Austin-3, Matt Shafer--3)—help drive golf cart during races (possibly direct the lead group of runners in each race through the course), be available to transport injured runners to athletic trainer or deliver loads of meet supplies during the meet, communicate with Mile Mark Clock Operator and Starter via walkie-talkie to notify Mile Mark Clock Operator what moment each race starts so they can start the clock
Special Projects (Francis Reynolds--1)--assist meet director in tasks as necessary during the meet
